THE WORKSHOP WILL FEATURE:
10:00am-12:30pm – MIDDLE EASTERN LINE DANCING
Line dancing is a popular fixture at festivals, wedding, night clubs and other special occasions, and is a great addition to a dancer’s repertoire. Plus it’s fun! Line dances that will be covered are several versions of Dabke, Miserlou, Tsamikos & Syrtos (Greece), Arabic Shake (Lebanon/Syria), Hora (Israel) Armenian Shuffle (Armenia), among others.
1:30pm - 4:00pm - CIRCLE VEIL
The circle veil is a beautiful change of pace from performing with a regular veil and it’s a show stopper! Circle veil is applicable for both females and males (who use the veil as a cape). Learn how to handle a circular veil and make it fly like a kite! Learn barrel rolls, passes around your body and neck and other beautiful move to wow your audience. Participants will need to make or purchase the unique ¾ circle veil beforehand. Helena has patterns for sale.

ABOUT HELENA ZAHARA: Helena is of Lebanese/Syrian descent and comes from three generations of professional bellydancers. Growing up in Boston, she had opportunities to perform with greats George Abdo, Mike Sarkissian, Freddy Ellias and to share the stage with fabulous dancers like Kaseem, Zabeth and Amir. Helena learned circle veil from Marta Skil, who authored the book, The Complete Bellydancer.
