About Helena Zahara
Meditation in movement is the art of oriental danse.  The spiritual aspect of the dance has been passed down as an inheritance and empowerment. Come feel the rhythm of life and travel the labyrinth of creation.  Much of the authentic dance style originated with Francis Haddad, better know by her dance name Vina.  Vina was the King's (George Abdo's) sister.

Helena recognizes that every dancer is unique. Some fabulas dancers she has studied with include
Karen Custer-Thurston, Faten Munger and Judy Hanna, Tina Keevers,  Charmaine, Marta Schill, and Za-Beth. She recenty attended a worshops with Artemus to study Gypsy and Tukish style.

Helena states women have danced from the dawn of history to celebrate marriage, fertitlty and childbirth. The mothers of modern daunce,
Isadora Duncan, Ruth St. Dennis and Martha Graham used ancient dance to envoke the female archetype.   Helena's dance background include  aerobic, latin, tap, jazz, ballet, folk, flemingo, hula, county, ballroom and epressive, sacred and liturgical dance, and Dances of Universal Peace.   

Helena has had certification by
I.D.E.A. as an aerobic instructor, has degree in Addiction Sciences, Gestalt Training, and practices Dances of Universal Peace. Helena has studied the impact of spirituality, meditation and movement on helping women focus on their inner feelings an better cope with life is a hectic era.  Halena has taugh classes for OASIS,  Free University, All MY Relations, Red Brick Studio,  Northwood Christian Church , Clarian Health, Citizen's HealthcareFall Creek Counseling,

Greenwood Brownie Troupes, Rehabs,
Julie Bandy Performing Arts, Sacred Spage Yoga,  and NOHSE.  She is currently a member of ISAMETD (Indiana State Association of Middle-Eastern Teachers and Dancers.) and MEDSOK (Middle Eastern Dance Society of Kentuckyiana.)

Helena is the director of
Troupe Jamileh Malika.  This group has  exploried oriental,  tradtional arabic, tribal fusion. We have danced at at Pagan Pride Day,  Penrod, the Fisher's Reniassiance Faire,  Howe Academy, and the International Festival.   Helena teaches students to sew and to use art in creatrivlty in costuming.  We welcome women of all ages and abilites to celebrate the Goddess Spirit.

Helena has performers with the original
Desert Winds, Flowers of Saville, Zbiede's Harem Dancers, and Zahara's Navel Academy, and was and officer of Indiana's Middle-East Dance Club.

Troupe Jamileh Milka
has perfomed at the Fisher's Renaisannce Fesival 2006 and 2007 as the 7th Caravan of Zott: Rom for the 14th century.  They do  creatve psychic readings for events and gypsy tea parties.

Helena is a from Miss Spring of Boston and  graduate of the Barbizon of School of of Modeling and taught Modeling for Barbizon of  Indianapolis, and Bredna Carol's School of Modeling..  Helena has worked as a model for Images Agency Indianapolis, Cinderella Modeling Agency in NH, Barbizon of Boston, and Greater Lynn Photo Association, Phil Nowlan Studios, and Underwood Studio in Indianapolis. 

Helena  brought her creativety to L.S. Ayres, and Blocks working as a make up artist for many years through Images and  Act One.

She brings this knowlege of stage presence, photograpy, and make up, and skin care to her dance students
. These are helpful tools for women to radiate confidence and beauty.

Helena has worked as a counselor for 16  years. She has facilitated dance therapy groups at Larue Carter Hospitial.  There is and increased awareness of the need for abused women to learn to be present in their bodies and develop more self love and love for thier bodies.  Helena has also been involved in some litergical dance and folk dace with aldolescent females in corrections and Girl Scouts at Camp Delwood. 

Oriental dance is recomended  as great tool to aide in healing body and soul.  Many people who have been abused find healing in oriental dance.  Oriental  dance s recommeded for for pre-natal exercise to strengthen the pelvic floor.

Helena Zahara has been studying Oriental Danse or Raks Sharki in her Lebanese family tradition of dance since 1974.  Three generations of dancers from her family of fame currently include
Zbeide, Nanoura, Sofelia, and Jetalia.   This  blessed her with the opportunity to have danced at a young age with some of the wold's greatest musicians including George Abdo, Eddie Kochak, Mike and Buddy Sarkissian, Il Troubadore, Salaam Band , and Frederick Elias.
